Jim was a very nice guy, had a auto parts store in Dimond. My mother told me she dated his father in the 30s'

You could have been him and vice versa!  I remember that car garage in Dimond District on MacArthur Blvd.  Ran into a woman a while ago (2-3 years older, also OHS grad) whose father owned the  garage and she worked there after school and on weekends.  We did a lot of reminiscing even though we didn't know each other in h.s.  Unfortunately I didn't know Jim while at OHS.

I remember working with Jim in the backyard of his house on Park Blvd.  He had bought a new Hurst 3-speed shifter for his red & white '56 Chevy.  We had to cut a hole in the floor and then mount the shifter.   After it was done, we took it for a ride...  worked great, but it was still a 3-speed...  Jim came up with an idea...  He started out in low gear and not wind it up very high, then he would put the clutch in tap the gear (still in low) let the clutch out and finish winding up first, then quick to second and then to third...  He did a pretty good job of making his car sound like it ran through all 4 gears..  After Graduation, Jim was working in a bank as a courier of currency between branches with another fellow..  One day the other fellow brought in a rabbit to the bank and when he left that day he also took $45,000 in cash.. As far as I know, they never caught him but he was spotted dressed up as a female as a disguise.  Working with Jim in his backyard was very nice...  He thought out how he was going to do something and then get er done.  He did not get mad if a little thing went wrong, he was very easy to get along with..  I went into the service in '65 and lost track of him.  Those that knew him will surely miss him..  I do...  Bill                                                                                                                                        Just remembered, we also put a new Duntov cam in the car the same time as the shifter...  Did it all in a day...
