Janette Powell (Muzzy)

I met Butch at the Sadie Hawkins dance, in September of our Junior year.  Looking back, American Graffiti could have been about us, and the group we hung out with...

He had a blue '56 Ford that was his "baby," and I think at one time we had about eight of us in there.  Going up to Redwood Road, Snake Road and all over the Oakland Hills was a favorite pastime.. gas was cheap back then...  Santa Cruz, cruizing South Shore, the movie Thunder Road, Rainier Ale, the Dances, "Shelia," by Tommy Roe, "Blue Velvet.. "

I'm not sure if we were in school or out most of the time, but we all made it to Graduation night...  Lew went on to work at NAS Alameda, starting as an Instrument Mechanic, then years later, down to Sunnyvale for Lockheed-Martin as a LAN Administrator and QA...

He and his wife, Andie (Seaman) (Sunset High) bought a beautiful old teak wood 35' Chris Craft and we would all get together and go out on the Bay, and up by Rio Linda, especailly on the 4th.. the firewords were beautiful from the water.  Butch loved to do woodworking and made some of the household furniture, along with cribs for his grandkids.

We remainded life long friends, till his death in '08... some people will always be like "family."

Missing you, Butch..
