Mike was a GREAT guy--friendly, funny, smart, with a kinda a happy-go-lucky joie de vivre. We didn't have any classes together (that I recall) so I don't remember how we met, although I'm very happy we were buds of a sort while at OHS.  One of the things I remember most about him was his big smile  he'd flash whenever he saw me.  (Confession time--it made me feel good, although I'm sure it came naturally for him whenever he saw someone he knew.)  He just never seemed to have a bad day. (At the time, a difficult thing for a typical moody teenage girl to understand.)  During our final days before graduation, we seemed to talk a little more and on the surface, I acted like graduating was "no big thing."  However, on the last day of school, June 14, 1963, while Mike and I were talking, I started crying and he wrote in my yearbook that he was sorry that I cried on the last day. (Compassion was another one of his many likeable traits.)

I'm so  sorry to hear of Mike's passing since he was one of the people I was most looking forward to seeing again at our 50th reunion.  Wherever you are Mike, I want to thank you for being a bright spot  while  attending OHS.  I'll always remember  you.

How sad.  I was really looking forward to meeting Mike again.  We walked to school together for many years.  He lived next to Diamond Park and I lived on Forest Hill.  I'd see him waiting for me most mornings when I left the park.  He had such a bright smile and happy personality.

RIP Mike.

I really agree with the other posts about Mike! He WAS a really good guy. He was always happy and nice to everyone. We had 8th grade art together....where we laughed and laughed and got into trouble for that.

How simple life was. Praying that Mike's life was a good one. I know he has left a good legacy for family and friends.

God Bless you alway Mike Yslas

Mike had a great  personality and would always find a way to create a great laugh. He went to many parties in Junior High and High School and I always loved dancing with him.
